On a specific machine
Wrong-part traps
- Assuming every 212 has the same crankshaft. Bore varies across production runs and clones. Measure it.
- Buying a converter before checking frame clearance. A converter is wider than a clutch, and 212 swaps are often already tight.
- Mixing pitches after a swap. If the converter's driven sprocket is #420, the rear sprocket has to be too.
- Reusing the stock chain length after fitting a converter. The output moves; the chain length changes with it.
- Ordering an exhaust off engine name alone. Flange pattern and available frame clearance both need checking.
