Why this page is a worksheet and not a spec sheet
Coleman mini bikes are among the most modified machines in this class. By the time one changes hands it has commonly been through a chain, a sprocket set, sometimes a whole engine. A factory spec table would look authoritative and still get you the wrong part, so this page gives you the five measurements that actually decide fitment — and what each result selects.
The five measurements
| Measure | Where | What you'll get | What it selects |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Crankshaft bore | Engine output shaft, behind the clutch. Calipers on the bare shaft. | 5/8" (16 mm) · 3/4" (19 mm) · 1" | 5/8" or 3/4" → 420 kit bore variant 3/4" or 1" → torque converter bore variant |
| 2. Chain pitch | Any ten pins on the existing chain, centre to centre, divided by ten. | 0.375" = #35 · 0.500" = #41 or #420 | #420 → the 420 kit. #35 → the converter's #35 sprocket option. |
| 3. Rear sprocket teeth | Count them. | Typically 54–72 on a stock mini bike | Gearing only — it does not change what fits |
| 4. Frame tube diameter | Where a tank band would wrap the frame. | ≈75 mm or ≈100 mm | Selects the 1.1 L or 2.355 L cylindrical gas tank |
| 5. Rear end type | Look at how the rear fender and axle are arranged. | Axle-spacer style · fender-bracket style | Selects which of the two cargo rack mounting methods you use |
One sourced data point worth knowing while you are back there: parts suppliers list the CT200 rear axle as an M15 and the CT100U / CC100X rear axle as an M12 — a useful confirmation that CT100U parts do not cross to CT200U, but still measure yours before ordering.
Parts with published model-level fitment
| Part | Fits | Key numbers |
|---|---|---|
| CT200 rear cargo rack | CT200U · CT200U-A · CT200U-EX · BT200X | 165 lb capacity · two mounting methods (axle spacer swap, or rear fender adapter bracket) · cargo net included |
| Cylindrical gas tank | Listed as fitting Coleman, Baja, Xtreme and most common mini bike frames | 1.1 L (75 mm) or 2.355 L (100 mm) · petcock, fuel line and band clamps included |
| 30 Series TAV2 torque converter | Any engine whose crankshaft bore you have measured as 3/4" or 1" | 669 belt · #420 and #35 sprocket options included |
Ordering drivetrain parts for a Coleman
Do not order off the model name. Coleman mini bikes are widely modified and second-hand machines frequently have a different engine, sprocket or chain than they left the factory with. Measure the three drivetrain numbers on the bike in front of you:
- Crankshaft bore, chain pitch and tooth count — how they match up
- Identifying the chain you already have
- Choosing a torque converter by bore and sprocket pitch
Wrong-part traps
- Ordering by model name on a used bike. Coleman mini bikes get modified. The engine on it now may not be the engine it shipped with.
- Treating CT200U, CT200U-A and CT200U-EX as one machine. They share a rack fitment but not every dimension.
- Assuming CT100U parts cross to CT200U. They are different machines; the axles alone are different sizes.
- Buying a rack without checking which mounting method your rear end takes. The kit supports both an axle spacer swap and a fender adapter bracket — confirm which one your bike needs.
- Fitting a torque converter without checking frame clearance. It is wider than the clutch it replaces.
FAQ
What chain fits a Coleman CT200U?
Measure the chain currently on the bike rather than ordering by model — pin-to-pin pitch of 0.375" is #35 and 0.500" is #41 or #420. Used Colemans are frequently re-chained by previous owners, so the factory figure is not a reliable guide.
What parts fit a Coleman CT200U?
Our CT200 rear cargo rack publishes fitment for CT200U, CT200U-A, CT200U-EX and BT200X with a 165 lb capacity. The cylindrical gas tank lists Coleman among its supported frames. Drivetrain parts should be matched by measurement — bore, chain pitch and tooth count.
Is a CT100U the same as a CT200U?
No. They are separate machines with different engines and different chassis hardware, including different rear axles, so parts do not cross over reliably between them.
How do I fit a rear rack to a Coleman mini bike?
The CT200 rack kit supports two installation methods — a rear axle spacer swap, or a rear fender adapter bracket — and ships with the hardware for both. Check which rear end your bike has before you start.
Will a torque converter fit a Coleman CT200U?
It depends on the crankshaft bore of the engine currently installed, not on the model name. Measure the output shaft for 3/4" or 1", then confirm you have frame clearance for a converter, which is wider than a bare centrifugal clutch.
